Photo show of 2010 Picnic

A Roxio Photoshow created by Lisette Saldanha who also took all the pictures has been uploaded to their site and is accessible by clicking on this link.

Please allow time for the show to start loading. At a few portions, it may slow down to load video clips included in the show.

We also have a series of photographs taken by Ivor Mendes uploaded to his Kodak site. He has captured quite a variety of images which will give you a flavour of the festive mood of the picnic despite the inclement weather.

8th Annual Family "Green Theme" Picnic

This year it was decided to hold the picnic on a Saturday and the entire committee was pleased with the decision. Although last year we were under pressure due to the City strike, our green theme was well received, specially by the youngsters and so we decided to keep with it, providing compostable plates, forks and tea-cups to the attendees free of charge. However, we did have gifts for those who brought their own reusable supplies (approx 20%).

The day was picture perfect for most of the morning and into the afternoon when clouds rolled in. Just as we finished serving lunch the heavens opened up and doused us with life giving rain. However, it wasn't enough to dampen our spirits and we managed to continue to dodge the clouds to complete the sports events and even held the Bingo in the large shelter.

The band, the Marauders, played through the day except when the driving rain was an electrical hazard. Unfortunately, one of their computers caught a few drops and shorted out but a trusty mini-CD player was pressed into DJ service to provide us with music.

All in all, it was another successful event for the indefatigable BMX-Toronto committee. Accolades have been flowing in and our wrap up meeting was generously held by Hyacinth and Freda in Mississauga.

Plans for the Whist Drive cum Hop on the 21st of Nov, 2010 at the Vic Johnson's arena in Streetsville are coming along well and we will post details on this site shortly.
